Off to the NT

Plans have finally been made! As of 11pm tonight, I`ll be takin off to Australia`s Northern Territory for 10 days. I knew that I really wanted to go to Darwin, but from there, it took awhile to figure out where to go next, and what to see. There`s so many amazing places in Australia, but when you`re on a limited time frame, and when things are sooooo far apart, you really have to pick and choose :). I was torn between either going from Darwin to Broome through into to Western Australia, or, going south, from Darwin to Alice Springs and seeing Uluru (Ayer`s Rock). After some locals suggested seeing Uluru, it was decided!

So, tonight, at 2am, I`ll be arriving Darwin, and staying there for 3 nights. On one of those days, Patrick and I made arrangements to see and visit the Darwin weather office! That will be really interesting, as forecasting for Darwin is kind of a unique place to be (nothing to forecast half the year during the dry season, then the other half is nothing but tropical cyclones and thunderstorms).

Following Darwin, we`ll be joining a tour group that has a 6-day venture to Alice Springs and a side trip to Uluru. The first 3 nights will be a casual ride down to Alice Springs, taking in different sites to see along the way, then from Alice Springs will be 2 nights en route to Uluru and back.

More to come!
